Have you heard of ‘Hygge’? It’s the latest word of the moment and it’s particularly apt for this time of year. Pronounced ‘Hue-ga’, like ‘cougar’, this Danish expression is all about achieving wellbeing, happiness and cosiness. It’s all rather warm and fuzzy, which is perfect for these colder autumn evenings.
Rightmove has offered a few handy tips to help us all achieve a little hygge at home this season. In their words, “Think candles in the evening (and the morning!), the smell of freshly brewed coffee, a warm blanket and a slice of cake on a Sunday evening, board games and laughter with friends.” You get the idea?
Try creating comfy, cosy spaces in your home with soft lighting, warm blankets and cushions, preferably near a window so you can sit with a nice warming cup of coffee, a good book and some big fluffy socks on while you watch the world go by. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?
Happy hygging!
